So—no responses to my poll. 😦 Oh well, onward.
I spent today in Japanese Embroidery class. It was wonderful! Well, wonderful except for the fact that it took a long time to remember what I was doing. Note to self: Don’t put stitching down for a year ever, EVER again!
You may be wondering what I did today (and, even if you’re not, I’m going to show you. :-))
See that clump of pine needles capped in gold? That’s what I did in about six hours time. The gold, where it’s used alone, is 2 strands secured to the needle. To indicate the play of light, some needles (which are 2 straight stitches) are stitched with 2 stands of gold and one of flat silk. Where no gold is used there are two different colors of flat silk used—two values of green.
You can tell my stitch formation is far from uniform, but it got better as the day progressed. Tomorrow, it’s on to the pine branches, cherry blossoms and my last cloud pine. I’m getting close to a finish with my Phase One project. 🙂 Yea!
I will post close up photo tomorrow, then a before and after of the entire piece on Sunday.
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.
